Around twenty students of the Congress backed All India Students Association (AISA) were detained by police as they were protesting over the decision to roll back FYUP and the fact that admissions to the institution had been delayed as a result.

The students were protesting at the Central Secratariat metro station when they were detained. They were on their way to Rashtrapati Bhavan where they intended to seek the President's intervention.

Reports say that slogans were being chanted by the students even while they were being escorted to to the Parliament Street police station.
