Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member Shazia Ilmi quit the party on Saturday, citing lack of 'inner party democracy' as the reason for her decision. "Arvind has shot the messenger, I was consistently sidelined in the party," Ilmi said.

"AAP did a lot to change national political discourse, but it lacked inner party democracy," Ilmi said. "There's a crony clique that runs AAP, Kejriwal's unable to follow inner party democracy," Ilmi said. "I am not joining any other party, but I am agitating against AAP or its own welfare," she said.

"I find it amazing that we cannot follow principles of Swaraj in our own party," she said. Ilmi also slammed the party's continued use of 'sensationalism' to reach out to people. "To continue to use sensationalism is wrong," she said. "Dharnas and demonstrations were helpful earlier on but now they are not, people don't like it,
