AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal apologized to the people of Delhi on Wednesday for abruptly quitting his government after a 49-day stint.

"We have decided that we will prepare for the elections (in Delhi). We will go among the people," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal, who served as Delhi's chief minister for 49 days and quit February 14, said: "In the next 7-10 days, we will hold a number of meetings in Delhi...We will apologize to the people of Delhi and (seek) complete mandate so that we can form a government for five years."

Kejriwal's apology comes a day after he met LG Najeeb Jung and told him that the AAP wants to form government in Delhi.
