Two persons were killed in the Kishanbagh area of Hyderabad today, allegedly in police firing during clashes between two groups.

The area, which is in the old quarters of Hyderabad, is under curfew since the clashes erupted this morning over the burning of a religious flag. When the police tried to stop the fighting and stone-throwing, they found themselves outnumbered.

The police claim that they fired when the situation was threatening to spiral out of control.

At least seven people were reportedly injured.
