Congress claims Vajpayee wanted action against Modi in 2002
  • 5 years ago
The Congress now has found a new weapon to target Narendra Modi - former prime minister and BJP founder Atal Bihari Vajpayee!

In a blog on the Congress website, the party first praises Vajpayee and then invokes his 2002 remark, urging Modi, the Gujarat chief minister, to "follow rajdharma (duty)" after the Gujarat riots.

The party also invokes statements made by expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh to claim that Vajpayee wanted Modi to resign.
The party even claims that Vajpayee felt that the NDA lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2004 due to the riots.
