Five-time BJP MP Ananth Kumar filed his nomination for the Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday. Kumar is fighting to defend his seat for the sixth consecutive term in a row against political newbie Nandan Nilekani of Infosys fame.

Ananth Kumar filed his papers on the first day when nominations were called for in Karnataka. He was accompanied by his wife Tejaswini and former deputy chief minister and BJP strongman in Bangalore R Ashoka.

He later said that the Congress had fielded a new person against him in every election but had not succeeded in beating him. The entire Karnataka will vote on April 17 in a single phase.
