Hancock on botched Brexit ferry contracts

The government has paid Eurotunnel £33 million in exchange for dropping legal action against the Department for Transport over post-Brexit ferry contracts. The Channel Tunnel operator had begun legal proceedings over the way the DfT handed out ferry contractors to three suppliers, arguing that the process had not been transparent. Health Secretary Matt Hancock described the deal with Eurotunnel as "a really important agreement” and said that it allows the government to "have confidence" that the UK will have an “unhindered supply of medicines” regardless of the post-Brexit scenario.
