Italy on Tuesday recalled its ambassador Daniele Mancini for consultations citing India's "obvious incapacity" to handle the case involving two of its marines who are accused of killing two fishermen off the Indian coast. The Italian Foreign Minister issued a statement saying that it had taken the decision following the 'unacceptable postponement' by the Supreme Court which is hearing the case. "At the latest, unacceptable postponement decided this morning by the Indian Supreme Court examining the case of Italian navy sharpshooters Latorre and Girone, and India's obvious incapacity to manage the situation, Italy intends to maintain and intensify its efforts at having its rights as a sovereign state recognised in accordance with international law," Italy's foreign minister Emma Bonino was quoted as saying in a statement on the the foreign ministry's website.
