A bill to create a new Telangana state by dividing Andhra Pradesh will be taken up in the Rajya Sabha this afternoon while its controversial passing in the Lok Sabha yesterday with live telecast cut off, has set the stage for more fireworks in Parliament.

Anti-Telangana politicians have called a bandh or shutdown in Seemandhra, the non-Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh that remains firmly opposed to the state's bifurcation. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is expected to resign today.
