Arvind Kejriwal resigns as the CM of Delhi
  • 5 years ago
Less than two months after Arvind Kejriwal rode the metro to take his oath as Delhi's Chief Minister in a large park packed with tens of thousands of people, the man who delivered a Seismic shift in Indian politics shook things up again. By quitting.

"I am ready to make 1000 sacrifices to fight corruption... I can surrender the chief minister's post not once but 100 times. We are not here to save our government but to save the nation from corruption," Mr Kejriwal said in the Delhi Assembly, just an hour before he wrote his resignation letter.

He had warned that he would quit if the Delhi legislature stalled or rejected the Jan Lokpal Bill, a proposal that creates an ombudsman agency to investigate corrupt government officers.
