Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday joined the protest being held here by students from the Northeast following the death of Nido Taniam.

Taniam, 20, from Arunachal Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries last Thursday after he was beaten up by several men last week at Lajpat Nagar-1 market in south Delhi following an altercation.

Kejriwal will sit on dharna along with students from the Northeast a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi joined the protest.

Rahul assured "very strict action" in the case and also said that a committee will be formed to review the treatment given to people from the Northeast.

The protesters on dharna have been demanding action against those involved in the killing of Nido Taniam.

Asserting that "what has happened was unacceptable", Rahul, while addressing the agitators at Jantar Mantar yesterday, said "....You can expect a very strict action and detailed study done by a committee on the issues of North-easterners of this country. We are trying to move forward on that."
