Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is all set to be conferred with country's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, here on Tuesday. Tendulkar, who played a world record 200 Test matches for India, bid a tearful goodbye to cricket in November 2013 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, shortly after which, the Government of India announced Bharat Ratna for him.

President Pranab Mukherjee will confer the award on the legendary cricketer, who becomes the first sportsperson in the nation to get the coveted honour.

Tendulkar, 40, was chosen for the award along with eminent scientist Prof CNR Rao. Tendulkar will also be the youngest sportsperson to be bestowed with the country's highest civilian honour.

The announcement of awarding Bharat Ratna was made by Rashtrapati Bhavan within hours after Tendulkar played his 200th and farewell Test against the West Indies in Mumbai.
