Telangana bill unlikely to be passed, group of ministers to decide on amendment - NewsX

The Group of Ministers (GoM) will meet on Tuesday to take a final call on the amendments in the Telangana Bill before sending the draft to the Cabinet. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy will be in Delhi to see that it is not done.
Reddy, who is opposed to the bifurcation, has sought an appointment with the President.
However, pro-Telangana politicians are also lobbying hard. TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and TDP's Chandrababu Naidu are also in Delhi. The latter met the President on Monday. YSR Congress Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy will also be arriving today.
While the Centre is keen to pass the Bill in this session of Parliament, Congress MLAs feel the move will only wipe out the party from the state. "There is no Congress in Telangana. I don't know why they are so arrogant. All MLAs will resign and go for some other alternative," Erasu Prathap Reddy, state Minister for Law and Courts, said.
The Seemandhra Congress leaders have decided to protest in Delhi. They say they will challenge the government's move in a High Court.
"Even if they present the Bill in Parliament, it won't be a smooth going. It will surely be defeated," TG Venkatesh, the state Minister for Irrigation, said.
