Sunanda Pushkar, the wife of Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor, was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Delhi on Friday. This came two days after Pushkar was involved in a row over Tharoor's alleged romantic links with a Pakistani journalist that broke on social media and then played out in the full glare of television and the press.

Pushkar's body was found in room number 345 of the Leela Palace Hotel in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri area at around 8:30 pm by her husband. She was 52.
