Forget Rahul Gandhi becoming the Prime ministerial candidate of the Congress party in the coming general elections, a section of the party wanted him to become prime minister immediately and unleash a spate of populist measures in the run-up to the elections, according to a person familiar with the developments who spoke on condition of anonymity.
