Moved by Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, the resolution also asked the Union government to take steps to suspend Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth gathering unless the island nation provides equal status to its Tamil population with the Singhalese.

"India should completely boycott the meet. There should not even be a symbolic representation from the country in the upcoming CHOGM and it should communicate its decision to Sri Lanka immediately," the resolution said.
