Uttar Pradesh elections 2017: Voting begins for 53 seats in fourth phase

The three Assembly Constituencies of the 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh will vote in the fourth phase scheduled for February 23. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati were among the high profile politicians who campaigned for phase 4. Assembly segments in Congress president Sonia Gandhi's Raebareli Lok Sabha constituency will also go to polls in this phase.

680 candidates representing various political parties will try their luck in the elections. A total of 1.84 crore people will be eligible to vote in the election, whose main players are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who has not joined the campaign for the Assembly Election released a letter urging the people of Raebareli and Amethi to vote for the Congress candidates.

In an emotional appeal she wrote and quote "it has been a matter of pride for me and my family to represent you. Whatever we are today is because of you. We share a special bond with you and this bond is the greatest earning of my life".
