Sahara-Birla Diaries: Not enough evidence to order probe, observes SC
  • 5 years ago
In a massive relief to PM Modi, the Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking probe into Sahara-Birla diary case.

The hearing was conducted following a fresh affidavit by lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan. During the hearing, the apex court observed that there was not enough evidence to order a probe into the case.

"If we were to order investigation on the basis of material with no evidentiary value, it would be difficult for constitutional functionaries to function, which would not be safe for the democracy," said the court.
