Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a verbal onslaught against Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding demonetisation and the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign which had been introduced by the government in 2014.
A 'rejuvenated' Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at PM Narendra Modi's much-campaigned and advertised Swachh Bharat move which—Rahul said—was only facetious. "Two and half years ago, Modi ji came and said that he will clean Hindustan. Instead, he handed a broomstick to everyone. It became a fashion; three-four days later, they forgot about it," he said.
"The Prime Minister needs to spend some time with the poor farmers of the country and ask them why suddenly people are running to villages?" Gandhi said.
