Justice for Pavitra: Kejriwal's AAP demands investigation against college principal

The cry for justice for Pavitra Bhardwaj, a former Delhi University laboratory assistant who died on Monday after setting herself on fire nearly a week ago, became louder on Thursday when members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined the protest and demanded action against the college principal whom Pavitra had accused of sexual and mental harassment.

Raising doubts over the way the case has been handled, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal said Pavitra's dying declaration should have been enough for the police to take action against G.K. Arora, principal of B.R. Ambedkar College.

"Under normal circumstances, the dying declaration is treated as strong evidence. Police should take action against the principal and arrest him when they have the dying declaration, but unfortunately they have even failed to register an FIR against him (Arora)," Kejriwal said.
