Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley pushes for cashless transactions

A month after Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were demonetised, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a slew of measures to promote the use of digital payments. He announced a total of eleven measures, which include discounts for cashless transactions. Suggesting that transaction through cash has economic as well as in-built costs in a democratic set-up. The finance minister said the government is promoting payment by credit, debit cards and e-wallets.
