NewsX : Fresh trouble brews for Nitish Kumar as Delhi HC digs into Rs.320 crore Railway Sleeper Scam

The 320-crore railway sleeper scam is going to haunt Bihar Chief Minister and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar as the Delhi High Court asked a petitioner to file a writ petition. The case relates to misappropriation of funds in the purchase of concrete sleepers used between railway tracks when Nitish Kumar was the Railway Minister. The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) was investigating the case by a Parliamentary Standing Committee in 2005 but status of investigation reached no conclusion. The scam was unearthed following reports of the Standing Committee on Railway which had asked for an independent inquiry by CBI.
