NewsX : Indian Mujaheedin operative Afzal Usmani escapes from Mumbai court

In a major embarassment for the Mumbai police, Indian Mujaheedin operative Afzal Usmani escaped from the sessions court in South Mumbai. A car bomb maker, he is an accused in 2008 Ahmedabad and Surat blast cases. His arrest in 2008 led investigators to the Indian Mujahideen and its role in several terror cases.
Usmani, was taken from prison to court along with 22 others to hear the charges against him. The prisoners were allegedly allowed to mingle with relatives waiting outside the cramped court room. The police says Usmani may have disappeared then.
