Lone convict in the 2010 German Bakery blasts Himayat Baig may have been falsely implicated.
According to the National Investigation Agency, Himayat Baig is innocent. A charge-sheet submitted by the NIA to a Delhi Court in July regarding IM's overall activities in the country has named seven IM terrorists including founder Yasin Bhatkal for involvement in the German Bakery blasts but not Himayat Baig.
Incidentally, Baig was the only terrorist to be arrested and convicted and was sentenced to death by a trial court in Pune earlier this April. Significantly, Himayat Baig was convicted on the basis of a charge-sheet submitted by the Maharashtra ATS.
