Muzaffarnagar Riots : Indefinite curfew imposed, Army called by Akhilesh Yadav

Situation remains tensed in UP's Muzaffarnagar district after 9 people were killed and 34 injured in communal clashes. Among those killed was a TV journalist named Rajesh Verma and Israr a photographer hired by the police.

Indefinite curfew has been imposed in the riot-hit areas and army has been called in as a precautionary measure and situation is not out of control.

There's high tension in the area after 3 of a community were killed in Kawal village on 27th August. 28 companies of the central forces have been deployed in Muzaffarnagar and other surrounding districts.

Meanwhile Akhilesh Yadav has called for calm and has announced a compensation of 15 lakh to the kin of journalist and 10 lakh to others who have died.
