Blaming Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani for suicide by 26-year-old Dalit research scholar Vemula Rohith Chakravarthi in Hyderabad University, the state unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday burnt photographs and effigies of the minister in Press Complex area even as police stood mute spectators.

The NSUI activists had brought two effigies in separate cars thinking that if the police would snatch one they giving no time to the cops would burn another one.
