NewsX: Mamata to unveil sops to lure business to West Bengal

KOLKATA: The Mamata Banerjee government has drafted a more lucrative and comprehensive industrial incentive policy to woo business houses.

The West Bengal State Support for Industries Scheme 2013, which she is expected to unveil shortly, proposes to reorganize industrial locations into four zones, as against the earlier three, to bring more districts under the maximum incentive category.

The new incentives will include tax holiday on VAT returns, stamp duty exemption on property dealing and waiver of land conversion fee, sources in the industry department said. All existing benefits like industrial promotion assistance, waiver of electricity duty and sops for generation of employment will continue.

The incentive policy for industry was last formulated by the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government in 2008 and then amended in 2010.
