News X: Big day for Batla Encounter Case

News X: A Delhi court will today pronounce the sentence in the 2008 Batla House encounter case in which suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Shahzad Ahmad was convicted for killing a police inspector and assaulting other cops.
Remember that since this is a trial court order the convicted person has the right to appeal against the order of sentence.
While no one from Shahzad's family was present in the trial court when the verdict was delivered, members from civil society group Jamia Teachers' Solidarity Association, which had raised questions on the genuineness of the encounter has demanded for a judicial inquiry into it.
