NewsX: India-China: Joint Secretary level talks begin today

NewsX: Amidst growing tension in the Ladakh region over continuous provocation by the dragon. India and China officials are meeting for joint secretary level talks today. India is expected to send a stern message to China over the recent spate of incursions along the line of actual control.

Meanwhile, China is pushing for freezing troop deployment on the border and pre-notification of patrols as part of a proposed Border Defence Mechanism Agreement. The two neighbours are expected to discuss the border defence cooperation agreement aimed at reducing occasional face-offs along the Sino-Indian border.

The Indian delegation is led by Joint Secretary East Asia Gautam Bambawale and include representatives from the Ministries of Defence and Home, as also the Indian Army and the ITBP.
