Herald case: Sonia,Rahul Gandhi to appear in court on December 19

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and party President Sonia Gandhi will have to appear before a Delhi court on December 19 in the National Herald Case.On Tuesday, they had placed a petition before the Delhi High Court asking to be exempt from appearing on the same day. "We told the court that the accused are extremely keen, ready and willing to appear before magistrate at the earliest possible date," said Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who appeared for the Gandhis. Rahul Gandhi left for Puducherry on Tuesday morning,and is expected to visit Chennai after that. This meant he was unlikely to appear for the hearing in case on Tuesday despite Delhi High Court saying on Monday that they were expected to be present.
