NewsX: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi reached Puri a while ago, is also scheduled to meet a gathering of state BJP leaders at a hotel in Puri before departing from the holy town.
While the Bharatiya Janata party maintained the visit is religious and completely non-political, remember this is not the first visit of the party's poll committee chief.
Modi had earlier visited Sree Narayana Mutt at nearby Sivagiri in Kerala. Also, he went to the flood affected Kedarnath temple in June 2013, where he offered to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister to rebuild the temple shrine.
