In a major embarrassment, Shiv Sena’s sitting mayor Kalyani Patil in the Kalyan-Dombivali region lost her seat to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Suman Nikam. The result of the electoral battle in ward no.92 came as a surprise since the incumbent corporator and influential leader of Sena, Kalyani Patil was defeated by BJP’s Suman Nikam by a thin margin of 50 votes.
