Should politicians like Ajit Pawar be allowed to stay in office?

Speak Out India is a NewsX special show which debates the main news event of the day. He may have apologised for his callous "urinating-in-the-dam" statement, but deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's apathy for farmers dates back even further. Despite the Central water policy setting irrigation at a higher priority than industries, almost 2,000 million cubic metre of water meant for irrigation was diverted to industries between 2003 and 2011.The decision taken by a committee chaired by Pawar. Such large-scale redirection has vastly reduced the state's irrigation potential. An RTI report reveals that the committee allowed 40 to 80 percent of water from 23 projects to be diverted to industries. All hell has broken loose with opposition baying for Ajit Pawar's blood after these fresh allegations. So the question we are asking is- Are Maharashtra politicians serious about tackling the drought? Are they more into money making than finding a solution to drought? Should politicians like Ajit Pawar be allowed to stay in office? We debate this on the show and try to evolve consensus among our panelists over the issue.
