J&K: Patients given fake Amoxicillin tablets at govt hospital
  • 5 years ago
A life threatening scam of an essential antibiotic has come to the fore in Kashmir. It has been found that patients at state-run hospitals and health centres in the valley have been receiving fake amoxicillin tablets sold commercially as Maximizin 625. The scam came to light after a drug inspector subjected the tablet to a lab test only to discover that the drug contained NO amoxicillin, thereby turning it not just spurious, but dangerous too. The damage caused by the drug is said to be huge since as many as 7 Lakh tablets have been supplied to various Govt hospitals. An FIR has been filed against both the pharma firm as well as the distributor.
