BJP heads for majority in Jharkhand

Early trends for the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Jharkhand elections showed clear surge for the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In Jharkhand, as expected, the BJP took the lead in 30 of the 38 seats for which trends were available, while the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led in 14 seats. The Congress took a lead in six seats while the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) was ahead in six.
