Robert Vadra misbehaves with Journalist, office provides explainatory statement
  • 5 years ago
Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday night angrily pushed away the mic of a journalist (reporter) when he was asked about his land deals.
The incident took place in Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi. Vadra was heard saying in the video to the reporter, “Put your camera off, are you nuts?” He even asked his guards to get the reporter to delete the video footage.
Vadra had earlier answered a couple of questions posed by a reporter inside Ashoka Hotel.
“... I mean, are you serious? Are you serious? Are you serious? Are you serious?” Vadra kept asking repeatedly, as he lost his temper and stared into the eyes of the reporter and shoved the microphone away.
The reporter was seeking Vadra’s reaction to the decision of the new BJP government in Haryana to investigate all land deals whether it involves Vadra or the former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda or anyone else.
“What is wrong with you?” he said from a distance as he was led away by his security guards.
At this stage, the reporter was heard saying that his question was legitimate. To this, Vadra responded asking whether the reporter was the right person to whom the questions on the land deals should be answered.
Giving clarification on the entire incident, Vadra issued a statement that he wasn’t aware that the reporter was from ANI. “I thought the question was asked by a private photographer.”
Meanwhile, slamming Vadra’s act, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “I’m shocked the way he reacted to the question asked by the journalist.
He should apologise to both nation and media. If he was uncomfortable in replying to the question, he should have simply said ‘no comments’.”
On being asked, if BJP government will probe against Vadra in the alleged land deals, Patra said, “Our government will follow a legal path in probing the land deals scam.” Vadra’s hostile response to the question comes days after BJP’s leader Anil Vij had said that Haryana’s new government will investigate all controversial land deals.
