The Cabinet today approved the amendments to the Lokpal bill that the Rajya Sabha select committee suggested, clearing the way for its passage in the Budget session. Out of 16 amendments 14 have been accepted 2 we didn't agree. Now we will go to the Rajya Sabha with amended provisions requesting the chairman Rajya Sabha to take the matter to the RS and pass it. The Lokpal Bill was championed by anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare. Today's proposal includes several amendments to an earlier version cleared by the Lok Sabha, and has been rejected by Anna for being toothless.
