Telangana crisis intensifies; Congress on damage control mode

After threatening to resign over the last two days, seven Congress Mps from the Telangana submitted their resignations to AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi. The MPs resigned hoping that this move of theirs would result in something positive for the region. But members from the opposition in Andhra Pradesh have raised questions as to why the MPs have submitted their resignations to Sonia Gandhi and not the Speaker directly. Amid the mounting pressure, Congress said it was in the process of taking a decision on Telangana, but certain formalities had to be completed first. Congress' spokesperson PC Chacko reiterated that the party was not against formation of Telangana State.
