It was one of those long expected moments that finally crystallized. The son of Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi... Rahul Gandhi is set to take over as the No 2 in command of the grand old party. The elevation brings purported postives to the Congress, with some definite short and longer term implications too. There's no doubting the huge positives for the party. Rahul brings with him a stature as a Gandhi scion that frequently draws automatic clout, at least in the Congress ranks. Then he's clean of the baggage that UPA-I and UPA-II carry... and thirdly, he's a draw for the youth vote.
