Jayalalithaa writes to PM over NCTC issue - NewsX

Close on the heels of storming out of the NDC meeting on Thursday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has slammed the Centre for reportedly renewing its move to set up the National Counter Terrorism Centre. Jayalalithaa in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today, said that the proposal for setting up of a single point of control under the home Ministry for all anti-terrorist measures was objected to by almost all the State Chief Ministers. Reiterating that co-ordination and not control was considered to be the right way forward, she said action in the form of counter terrorist operations is best left to the state police to perform. Jayalalithaa has also stressed on the creation of a Rapid Action Counter Terrorist Force in every state, to function under the nodal State Agency.
