BJP Ready to Form Government in Delhi, Say Sources

A day after BJP chief Amit Shah said as the single largest party, the BJP has the right to form the government in Delhi, sources say the BJP parliamentary party would meet on Tuesday to take a final call on the matter. The board will also take a decision on the chief ministerial candidate.

Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung has reportedly recommended to President Pranab Mukherjee that the option of inviting the BJP to form government in Delhi must be explored. With 29 legislators, the party and its allies are five short of a majority.

Mr Shah met Union minister and senior party leader Nitin Gadkari on Saturday evening where it was reportedly decided that the BJP will explore the option of forming a government if Mr Jung sends a formal proposal to the party. The duo also reportedly decided that senior party leader Jagdish Mukhi will be the party's chief ministerial candidate in that scenario.
