UP: Girl gangraped in Gorakhpur - NewsX

In a no ending string of violence against women, a 17-yr-old-girl was gangraped in a field within the Sahjanva police limits in Gorakhpur in UP. But besides the trauma undergone by the teen, police indifference was galore with the police initially refusing to file an FIR. On December 15, the 17 year-old girl was proceeding to her farm when youth from the neighbourhood raped her and escaped. But adding up to the horror was the callous indifference by the police, who refused to file an FIR . Only after the family had run from pillar to post and the regional media reporting the rape, did the police register an FIR, five days after the incident and arrested two youths.
