DMK leader Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi appeared before the melur court in Tamil Nadu. Durai Dayanidhi, the grandson of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, had been on the run for four months now. He is accused of illegal mining and theft of government property. The family has alleged political vendetta by the AIADMK government of J Jayalalithaa. The police, however, say they have a strong case against Mr Dayanidhi. On Monday, while granting anticipatory bail, Justice CT Selvam of the Madurai bench of the High Court had asked Mr Dayanidhi to surrender his passport and also appear daily at the Melur Police Station, where the case is registered against him, until further orders.
