Punjab: Akali Dal leaders hooliganism on rise - NewsX

It seems like the Akali Dal leaders and members are drunk on power and are treating Punjab like their fiefdom. Recent incidents show how they have been going around beating up and even killing those they think have erred in their dealings with them. A Sarpanch in Amritsar's Ajnala tehsil thrashed a 19 year-old boy on the suspicion that he was carrying on an illicit relationship with the Sarpanch's sister-in-law. The boy dieed soon after. The other case is of singer Babu Chandigarhia being thrashed by alleged relations of Akali Dal leader and former minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia. The singer alleges that the bunch of Akalis tried to force him to sing when he was a guest at a wedding party in PCA stadium of Mohali. They thrashed him brutally after he refused to sing.
