Mrs Sonia Gandhi had refused to become Prime Minister in 2004 due to strong opposition from her son Rahul, who feared that she might be killed like his father Rajiv and grandmother Indira if she accepted the post, former external affairs minister K. Natwar Singh, once a key Gandhi family loyalist, claimed here on Wednesday.
