The Maharashtra sugarcane farmers protest has intensified...with reports of fresh violence breaking out...this time in Kolhapur district of the state. Today morning clashes broke out between farmers and the police. The protesting farmers set a police jeep on fire. This after the cops resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protesters while they were staging a road block. Two policemen are reported to have been injured in the clash. .. Sugarcane farmers in Maharashtra have been protesting since last week to demand better prices for their produce....Earlier violence during their protests had claimed the lives of two farmers.
