Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi launched the integration of various government-run flagship programmes with the Aadhar card system. After the integration...people can access government schemes like - Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act...Mukhyamantri BPL Gramin Awas Yojna...Pension scheme under social security...and Chief Minister's Scholarship. People will be able to access all these schemes using the Aadhar card. The applications are being launched from Dudu in Rajasthan...marking the second anniversary of Unique Identification Authority of India. According to UIDAI ...the initiative will cover 51 districts in the country by 2013. Aadhar was launched in 2010 to provide an irrefutable proof of identity to all citizens of India...making it the world's largest biometric-based identity database.
