Mamata slams media section, channels for news pollution - NewsX

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her views on rape cases, that seem to echo the sentiments of the Haryana Khaps. Mamata said yesterday that the rape cases were on the rise because men and women have the opportunity to interact with each other more freely. "Earlier if men and women would hold hands, they would get caught by parents and reprimanded. But now everything is so open." She also claimed that a section of the media was suppressing facts and causing "news pollution", Mamata alleged that every day rape incidents are being highlighted as if the entire state had become the land of rapists.
