Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday condemned the violence by protesters during his ongoing 'Adhikar yatra'. He has slammed their conduct as unbecoming of democratic and political culture of the state. He told public meetings in Supaul and Araria district that the protesters pelted stones on his motorcade and made a bid on his life apparently to stop him in his endeavour to seek betterment of Bihar and its people by getting special status. The Bihar govt has constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the large-scale violence and arson by protesters during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'Adhikar Yatra' in Khagaria district on September 27. The police on Friday lodged FIRs against 673 protesters, including 600 unidentified ones for their alleged involvement in violence. But Ranvir Yadav, the husband of JD-U MLA Poonam Devi, who was captured on video cameras snatching an automatic weapon from police and firing in the air to disperse protesters, has no case lodged against him.
