Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday slammed the recent diesel price hike and FDI reforms announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's government, calling them "anti-people". "The recent decision to increase the price of diesel and capping of cooking gas supply will severely affect the country's poor section and the middle class. The cost of living will increase after the diesel price hike," Mayawati said during a press conference. Mayawati further said that whenever the Central government take anti-people decisions, her party has not tolerated it and raised voice against it. She said that a huge rally will be held on October 9 after which a decision will be taken whether or not BSP will continue with its outside support to the government. The reaction came after government's announcement of diesel price hike, capping of supply of subsidised LPG cylinders and 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail - which opens up India's estimated USD 450 billion retail market to foreign supermarkets like Wal-Mart, Carrefour and Tesco.
